With weddings around the world being downsized, postponed or cancelled, it’s a post-pandemic reality that couples planning their marriage now need to think very differently and become even more creative about their celebrations.
This is now extending to their choice of wedding and engagement rings. Trends are now emerging for couples that have to downsize the wedding of your dreams... they are turning the potential negatives into a positive and using the opportunity to up size their rings or at least invest a little more than originally planned in to their design.
Around the world more low-key and intimate weddings are now at the forefront. Green, eco-friendly, sustainable and outdoor weddings are also trending - as is elopement. Local weddings have become more popular now for those planning to get married and flexibility is the key as couples want to still create memorable moments for their family and friends and keep the fun factor going.
As weddings go local they are also going virtual now and technology is assisting with digital access proving a lifeline for those that cannot travel, particularly elderly relatives. Online streaming and remote viewing offerings are becoming a core part of the festivities. Zoom weddings are popping up all over Instagram and live features and hashtags are now an integral part of many weddings. Weddings as we know them are changing at a fast rate.
The post-pandemic reality right now is that wedding culture has been completely changed around the world and this looks set to continue for the foreseeable future. The situation remains fluid and intimate ceremonies are likely to become the norm now because of social distancing measures effectively ruling out large gatherings and travel also being curtailed.
En masse, weddings with extended friends, family and friends and large numbers in attendance have been dramatically curtailed and rescheduled. Calendars have been adjusted and the ‘wedding season’ has been completely reshaped. This has been hugely challenging for couples who have spent years planning and now face constraints on their guest lists. Many are now going for a back-up plan that can be adapted to whatever restrictions remain in place in their area.
There’s an even greater appreciation now for moments with family and friends and times to celebrate as they have become so elusive and while weddings are generally hugely expensive for some - smaller, simpler, cheaper weddings are also coming as a relief for many. As the times are changing people are still keen to live life to the fullest.
But every cloud has a silver lining and for some, savings made on the wedding enable them to invest a little more in their wedding and engagement rings. There is no nicer public declaration of commitment and ensuring love than a beautifully crafted set of rings and particularly now - these rings will be testament to those who married during a pandemic and made personal sacrifices for the greater good.
Spending a little more time and investing a little more in a ring will give added sparkle every time you toast your marriage and better still - unlike the one day party - this investment will last forever.
