We’re all getting set for Autumn / Winter 2024 and the looks for the new season have already been showcased on catwalks all over the fashion capitals of the world.

It’s time now to refocus on jewelry along with the incoming fashion trends for clothing and also take stock of what you’re wearing when it comes to earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings.

Blush pink is predicted to be the color of next season and either gold or silver looks well with this. Quiet luxury is another trend coming through and jewelry can really play a part here. ‘Block black’ and 1970’s boho are also making a comeback and here it’s all about a mix of pendants, great earrings and plenty of rings.

Do you have a trusty ‘go-to’ look when it comes to what jewelry you wear daily? If that’s a traditional wedding band and / or engagement ring and a pair of diamond earrings that you wear every day that’s always a classic but maybe it’s time to take stock of what you can add to this look. Do you want more from the pieces that you’re wearing? And to mix it up from time to time?

Do you need to upgrade any pieces? Are you missing some key items like a nice dress ring or a pendant? Would you like to self-gift a piece for an upcoming birthday or occasion or drop the hint for your next Christmas or anniversary present?

Why not make a nod to your Celtic or Irish heritage and go for a brand new Claddagh ring or earrings or a pendant with the hands to symbolize friendship, the heart love and the crown loyalty? Or would you like a message on your jewelry in the ancient Irish language of Ogham? Or a message with particular sentiment written in Irish - such as Grá mo Chroi (love of my heart)?

From Summer to Winter
As fashion moves through the seasons you should also consider what jewelry you like to wear at different times. In summer it can be all about layering and wearing statement bangles and lots more costume pieces that work well in daytime and the long summer evenings. These will all glitter and look well in the sunshine and can help to finish off and coordinate with any outfit and go from day to evening easily.

Lighter more fragile pieces and brighter coloured stones look really well with the fabrics of the summer, particularly crochet and lace and linen that have been a feature of the season. Aquamarine, rose quartz, opals and topaz look really pretty especially when worn with the sparkling sea as a backdrop.

When it comes to autumn and winter styles for jewelry, it can be an opportunity to be more edgy. Going from desk to dinner can mean adding some key pieces, like a pair of more glamorous earrings or a statement necklace. The season of dinners and dark evenings can mean that sparkles can lift your outfit and mood and presence along with the beautiful darker gemstones such as rubies and emeralds. Chunkier pieces can look great with autumn knits and long pendants look great over wool and cashmere.

Layer Up and be Brave
Maybe some of your jewelry has become a bit dated? It is possible to upgrade or have pieces redesigned or why not layer up? The age-old debate of wearing silver or gold really comes down to sentiment in the end and what suits you, your skin tone, your preference and your outfit and your style. Both work equally well.

So what’s in style right now? Most notably, oversized hoops - a staple of 1980’s fashion, have made a big comeback. They’ve been seen in many collections on runway models.

The good news is that brooches are now back. The trick for this season is to wear them as close to the lapel as possible. Pearls work really well both in winter and summer - in summer with flirty flower print dresses and in winter always with black and navy and darker hues.

When it comes to wrist wear, delicate bracelets are a great way to show off your wrists in the warmer months, but in the winter sturdy bangles can look best along with the heavier fabrics.

No matter what your choices, the key advice is to have fun with your jewelry choices and shine and sparkle in this new season!
