The unique Claddagh ring is perfect for those who love Irish traditions and culture. The Claddagh has history going back as far as the 1660’s when the design originated from the fishing village of Claddagh in Galway.
A silversmith named Richard Joyce who traveled to the West Indies was enslaved by Moor goldsmiths for 14 years. During this time he fashioned the Claddagh ring intending to give it to his love back in Ireland. Once free Joyce brought back the design to Ireland and married his true love.
Since then the design has been associated with romance and is a popular choice of wedding ring. The ring is even used as a way of displaying ones marital status in the way it was worn.
